In Alebrije Cine y Video we pride on our ability to bring creative, artistic, technical and financial resources together. In doing so we have became a leader in co-productions, joint ventures and international partnerships through America and Europe, building coproduction and distribution network for audiovisual materials produced in México under the highest exportation standards.

In Alebrije Cine and Video we have substantial experience in film making, so we are not only one of the most prolific and dynamic production companies in Mexico but we also have become a point of reference and debate in feature film, television and any other audiovisual production matters.

Alebrije Cine y Video led by producer Mónica Lozano and Eamon O’Farrill has a catalog of more than 100 feature film titles, such as Amores perros, Voces inocentes, Aro Tolbukhin, Nicotina, El baile de San Juan, Malos hábitos, No se aceptan devoluciones, ¿Qué culpa tiene el niño?, El Jeremías, El elegido and Sueño en otro idioma, among others.

Mónica Lozano

Renowned Mexican producer with more than 20 years of experience. Lozano was part of Altavista Films' team, a prolific production company that ventured into the most diverse film genres and established distribution and co-production alliances around the world a mission that Lozano has continued in Alebrije Cinema and Video. With more than 37 films, Mónica Lozano has produced and co-produced some of the most internationally recognized Mexican films of recent years, including Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Amores Perros (2000); Roberto Sneider’s Arráncame la vida (2007); Carlos Bolado’s Colosio: El Asesinato (2012); Eugenio Derbez’s No se aceptan devoluciones (2013); Gustavo Loza’s ¿Qué culpa tiene el niño? (2016), and Ernesto Contreras’ Sueño en otro idioma (2016).

Mantarraya Group

Established in 1998, Mantarraya is one of the most prestigious Mexican filmmaking companies around the world. Working as a platform for new talents in the art-house market, its catalogue offers more than 30 films of which 15 are first-films. Mantarraya has been recognized with more than 125 awards, which include Best Director, two years in a row, at the Cannes Festival with Heli (2012) and Post Tenebras Lux (2013) as well as Best Director at La Biennale di Venezzia with The Untamed (2016).

Mantarraya offers a wide range of business possibilities due to the companies that integrate its group, which include a distribution company: ND Mantarraya, a Cause-Driven entertainment animation studio: Fotosíntesis Media and a commercial filmmaking company: Cadereyta Films.

To continue fostering new talents, Mantarraya recently established EsCine, a Filmmaking School that offers a bachelor degree in Filmmaking as well as specialized workshops.

Jaime Romandía

Born in 1969, Mexico City. He studied Business Administration and in 1997 he travelled to New York to study Filmmaking at the NYFA. After that,he founded a production company, Mantarraya Productions that has become one of the most prestigious Mexican filmmaking companies around the world.

With Mantarraya, Jaime has produced Pedro González Rubio’s Alamar (2009); Carlos Reygadas’ Japón (2002), Batalla en el cielo (2005), Luz Silenciosa ( 2007), Post Tenebras Lux (2012) and Amat Escalante’s Sangre (2005), Los Bastardos (2008), Heli (2013) and La Región Salvaje (2016) among other films that have gained international recognition. As director he has made 2 short films Aura and Homeward Bound. He was included in the list of "Ten Producers to Watch" of 2005 published by Variety magazine.

PIANO is a creative studio established by Julio Chavezmontes and Sebastian Hofmann in 2011 to produce challenging and innovative works in all artistic disciplines. We produce young, acclaimed directors whose films have collectively received over 30 international awards, and have been selected to Cannes, Sundance, Rotterdam, and Berlin among other prestigious film festivals.

In 2014 PIANO DISTRIBUTION was established as a platform for the release and commercialization of independent film projects in Mexico and abroad. Among the released titles are Sand Dollars, Tropical Carmín, Eisenstein in Guanajuato, All of Me, We are the Flesh.

Julio Chavezmontes

Julio Chavezmontes (Mexico City, 1983), is a young Mexican producer and screenwriter, nominated for the Golden Bear in Berlin and the Tiger Award at the Rotterdam Festival. He has been awarded with the Hubert Bals and the International ART Development Prize, among other awards. His productions have been selected in more than 90 film festivals, including Sundance, Berlin, Toronto and Rotterdam. In 2011 founded PIANO, with the director Sebastián Hofmann, where produced together Halley (2012) by Sebastián Hoffman, Eco de la montaña (2014) by Nicolás Echeverría, Tenemos la Carne (2015) by Emiliano Rocha, among others.

He has produced films in association with renowned producers such as Jaime Romandía (Japón, Alamar, Luz Silenciosa) Michael Fitzgerald (The Pledge, Los Tres Entierros de Melquiades Estrada) Lisa Cortes (Precious, Shadowboxer) and Alejandro González Iñárritu( Babel).

Julio Chavezmontes graduated with honors from the University of Chicago in 2005 and get a master's degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
